2020 Pricing £55.00 per hour. NOTE we only charge for actual hours worked on your machine to the nearest 15 mins. Whilst we specialise in classic motorcycles we also handle all modern machines.
Whilst aesthetically motorcycles may not have changed much over the past 50 years, the engine is still in the sale place and there is one wheel at each end, the older classic bike is very different to the modern machine. Carburetors have now largely been replaced with fuel injection, drum brakes with disc brakes, even modern small motorcycles carry more electronic tech than a 1970’s super bike. Classic bikes are mechanical machines, often remarkably complex and very analogue in an increasingly digital world. Modern motorcycles are largely plug and play, if a part doesn’t work the mechanic simply replaces it with another unit.
The classic motorcycle is very different and requires a very different approach, with mechanics who have yeas of experience in dealing with older technologies. Personally, I have worked with several classic motorcycle repair companies and have often been left disappointed, usually by a lack of attention to detail, poor communication, high costs and generally frankly pretty awful customer service. We aim to do better.
Our service facility in Newark Notts is in a modern secure unit with three bays with a lot of equipment much of it bespoke to classic motorcycles. Our head mechanic has over 30 years’ experience in motorcycle repair and nothing leaves the workshop without his seal of approval

Motorcycle Storage
Safe and sound
One of the issues facing a lot of collectors is storage, storage costs there is no getting away from it. Whilst you might like to have your CB750 in the living room chances are your wife (or indeed husband) may not be so agreeable. Actually, I think this should be challenged (if your feeling brave enough) one of the real joys of classic motorcycle ownership is looking at your bike. Too often they are hidden away and once under an old bed sheet in the garage forgotten about. So maybe you would like to consider storing your bike with us.

MIS has a menu of storage options for your motorcycle and can offer storage for a little as a month to long term.
All motorcycles will be stored in our secure, (both alarmed and monitored by CCTV) premises based in Newark on Trent. Newark has great communication links, being 5 minutes off A1, with two railways stations (Newark Castle and Newark Northgate) and just 70min from Kings cross London on the fastest train.
Newark makes a great starting point for some great rides out and we are happy to advise on this and hope to offer ride out days in the coming year.
We see clients fitting broadly into three categories.
1. Customer between houses or temporarily run out of space and just want short term storage 1-4 months.
2. Customer wants to store bike long term but plan to use the bike for ride outs occasionally mainly in the summer.
3. Customer wants bike to be stored long term probably multiple years and has no intention of riding the bike, probably just looking at it as a pleasurable investment. Or maybe working overseas on a long contract.
Of course there are variations on the above categories, and we are always happy to discuss your exact requirements before placing your beloved motorcycle with us here at MIS.
MIS offer servicing and repair facilities onsite and competitive rates with storage customers getting a discounted hourly labour rate charge. Whatever your requirement, servicing, repair or MOT we can assist you.
If you are arriving by train we offer a meet and greet service and can have your motorcycle ready to ride waiting at out premises.
Anyone who has owned motorcycles over the years and not used them will know what I mean about, battery tax! I have lost count how many battery’s I have replaced in my own motorcycles over the years. Your best bet is to have your battery connected to a maintenance charger, MIS support either the optimate or oxford brands.
For anything other than short term storage (4 months maximum) we recommend fuel stabiliser is added to you fuel and run through the system. For long term storage we recommend your carburettors are drained and stored dry. We also recommend a full service so all fluids in the motorcycle are clean and fogging oil applied to the cylinders.
So, what will it cost? Short term storage starts at £70 a month and long-term storage starts at £50 a month there is currently no VAT on these charges.
